On Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1, Utsav celebrated Durga Puja Festival at NY Capital Region. Durga Puja is the most important religious events for Hindu Bengali tradition and is celebrated over 5 consecutive days in Bengal. With blessing and support from the Bengali and Greater Indian community, Utsav Durga Puja Committe organized a truly memorable and first of its kind Durga Puja by the Bengalis for the Indian Community here in the New York Capital Region. The 5'6" ekchala fiber-glass idol set has been sculpted by the Kolkata couple of Kausik Gupta and Sanjukta Bhattacharya - alumni and alumna of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, India. The priest for this auspicious occasion was Pt. Shri Balu Dixit. Saturday celebrations included Puja, Pushpanjali, Prasad, Lunch, A Musical Evening, Sandhyarati and Dinner. Sunday celebrations included Puja, Pushpanjali, Dhunuchi Dance, Sindur Khela, Bisarjan. The event was open to public. The mood was festive. The Puja was elevating. The food was delicious. People were on cloud nine. Utsav thanks its esteemed members, guests, pathrons, the priest, Niskayuna High School and School Board, and last but not the list, Rick Schrade of Schrade Insurance (insurance agent for Utsav)  for making this Durga Puja a memorable event. With everyone's continued support, Utsav will keep spreading the flavor of Bengal to the Capital Region community. The Durga Puja Committee wishes to thank all volunteers for their time and energy and all Utsavites for believing in the Puja committee and as always extending every help and support. United we stand.
