Saraswati is the Hindu godess of Knowledge, Art and Music. It is one of the most important religious events for Hindu Bengalis. The 4' fiber-glass idol has been sculpted by the Kolkata trio of Kausik Gupta, Sanjukta Bhattacharya and Sandip Pal - all alumni of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, India. The priest for the auspicious occasion was esteemed Utsavite Mr. Gautam Bannerjee. The day was celebrated with Puja and Prasad ceremony, followed by a Bhajan session by local ISKCON members, a sit-and-draw competiion for children, an evening of music, song and dance. Both lunch and dinner were provided to attendees. We thank our esteemed members, guests, the priests, ISKCON members, drawing competion participants and judges, song and dance performers, advertisers, donors, patrons, Niskayuna School Board and Niskayuna High School and, last but not the list, Rick Schrade of Schrade Insurance (insurance agent for Utsav) for making this Saraswati Puja a memorable event. Everything that went right was a result of your blessings and support. Anything that needed improvement were shortcomings of the Puja committee that will be improve upon to make future Utsav events even better. Utsav hopes to get your continued support in all its endeavors. Thanks to all fellow Utsavites for believing in the Puja committee and extending every help and support. United we stand. | | |
